Lithograph by Robert Rauschenberg (1925-2008): Earth Day is on 22 April. In 1970, the action and commemoration day for the protection of nature was initiated by various environmental protection associations and groups in North America. The poster designed by Robert Rauschenberg shows the heraldic bird of the USA surrounded and encircled by photographic documents of an environment polluted and exploited by man. The proud eagle of the poster has become the symbol of a nation acting destructively.
